UPS Late For Christmas by: Kat Powers

UPS this year was late delivering presents for Christmas, 2013.

The amount of online shopping was above and beyond what was expected, this led to being unable to deliver as many packages as there were trucks and people. Besides poor weather in many parts of the country, the delays were blamed on systems overloaded by Christmas shopping. UPS was very embarrassed and apologized, “The volume of air packages in our system exceeded the capacity of our network. … We apologize,” UPS, which was plagued by more shipping problems than FedEx was, said in a statement. Thankfully, UPS dealt with this in a civilized manner by offering refunds.

The estimated packages for delivery before the overload was, “we projected to deliver more than 132 million packages,” Black, at UPS, said.
