The first Drumline competition will be held at Canyon High School on Saturday, Feb. 4.
This competition will help the drumline improve their performance quality and technique in a competitive way.
“The competition is where each drumline has their own show and we would have to perform for judges who score us on how well we march and perform our show and compare our show to other groups in our class,” freshman drummer Chris King said. “Then they calculate the scores and announce a winner.”
This competition will help students prepare for future competitions as well as get ready for WGI regionals on Saturday, March 11 in Houston, Texas and WGI Championships starting Tuesday, April 18 in Dayton, Ohio.
“We’ll be ready for the first show; we’re two weeks away,” Director of Percussion David Giddens said. “We’ll have the first two tunes done by then out of three for the show. We won’t have our props, we won’t have our uniforms, but from a performance standpoint, this is a good opportunity.” By Hailee Davis
