Way to go!

The Lady Yearling 8th Grade B Team defeated the Ed White Eagles last night in 3 games.  Starting off like race horses out of the gate at the Kentucky Derby the Yearlings served up an awesome game and won 25-10.  With a little too much confidence Garner went into game two and let the Eagles soar to a victory losing 23-25.  Getting back the mentality of a winner with focus and perseverance the Yearlings put together a much better game three and won 25-16. Madison served up 12 total points in game one and game three assisting the team with the game plan of tough serving.  Elizabeth, Brenda, Sam and Tatianna dominated the net while Elena, Clair, Tionne, and Tiara passed well on the back row.  Abby, Madison and Lina set us up well for the attack game we needed for victory.  Congrats on your win and come see the Lady Yearlings play Krueger next week here at Garner.

8th Grade Volleyball Flying High

Set the bar high because we don’t limbo.  The 8th grade girls’ volleyball ‘A’ team destroyed Driscoll last night, 25-7, 30-28.

Mallory Potts, Ethany Cosby, and Kamryn Gutierrez were a trio that couldn’t be stopped.  Everything Ethany set; the other two would cram down Driscoll’s throat.

Key defensive players of the game were Neely Haby, Mia Self, and Taylor Kotzar who picked up everything that came flying at them!

‘A’ team ended up being too much for Driscoll to handle when the score in the second game was tied. Mallory Potts had 2 game saving kills that lead the team to victory!

A special thanks to all the Garner fans at the game last night chanting for our girls to win in the last plays of the game.

Back to School, Back to Reality

You turn on your TV and see those familiar “back to school” commercials. You go to your local super market and see all these offers and deals on school supplies.  And whether you like it or not; you come to the realization that a new school year is here.

Even if you’re an 8th grade soon-to-be high schooler, a new 6th grade Yearling, or a 7th grader caught in the middle of everything there’s no doubt it will be a great year at Garner.  According to Adam Martinez (7), he’s looking forward to a lot more learning time this year.  He also says, “I was nervous on the first day.  I didn’t want to get any tardies.”

There are many brand new volleyball girls and football guys working hard to represent their school in the best way possible by winning games. “I can’t wait to play football this year,” James Denton (7) explains.

So no matter what you’re doing this year at Garner, try hard at everything you do and you’ll succeed.  Have a great year!
