2015 New Year’s Resolutions

It’s here! The big 2015; the year Marty McFly from “Back to the Future” traveled to.

Of course with a new year comes a new you, new mistakes, new wishes, and especially new resolutions.

For those who don’t know what a “New Year’s Resolution” is, it’s something resembling a goal that you would like to accomplish in the new year.

For example Annabel Flores (7) said, “My new year’s resolution is to get better in math. I need help with math because I know I struggle in that subject.”

According to www.usa.gov , the most picked New Year’s resolution of this year is to lose weight. Of course right in second is to volunteer or to help out more.

Also, according to www.statisticbrain.com , only 45% percent of Americans make or set out a New Years’ resolution. Also, only 75% of people carry their resolution out through just the first week and then quit.

There are many reasons to make a resolution for yourself even if it’s to lose weight or to beat a new video game. Set goals for yourself and reach high this year.

7th Grade Boys First Basketball Game

Finally Basketball season has arrived and I’m here to talk about the first ever 7th grade boys Basketball game of the year.

The first game the boys played was against Harris Middle School.

Sadly Go Team, A Team, and B Team all lost. I have to say the score was pretty good at the beginning of the game but it all went downhill after that.

D’angelo Antonino(7) said, “hopefully next time we can get a win.”

Boys Go Team played at 4:30 p.m., B Team played at 5:30 p.m., and finally A team plays at 6:30 p.m. These times stay the same for every game.

Of course things are not considered a sports game without the snacks, so thank you so much PTA for providing our snacks.

The next game will be on January 9,2015. Hope to see everyone there.

A New Beginning For Garner

If you go to Garner Middle School then you probably know all about the new addition to Garner.

Although if you don’t go to Garner, read on about the new building that Garner will be getting.

The new building will consist of so many things like a new outside Basketball court, Tennis court, and even a new cafeteria.

The new building will be two stories with brand new classrooms and we will even have elevators.

Mrs.Northway said, “The building will be ready on December 24, 2015. Also, teachers will start moving in there during Spring Break of 2016.”

Mr.Sellers said, “These classrooms that we are in right now will stay  until the community says otherwise and then when we get paperwork worked out, they will come down to make way for more new buildings.”

A great advantage to teachers and students is that the classrooms will be much bigger and there will be all new furniture in them.

Another good thing about this new building is that each grade level will have their own wing.

I know a bunch of students and staff are very excited for this new building especially since our older buildings are over 50 years old.
