2015 Gas Prices

Everybody has that one place they like to go to, but they might need a car for that. That means you need Gasoline for the car. Right now the gas prices are very low and that brings benefits to a bunch of people. In the past years there has been complaints about the high gas prices, but not anymore.

People think that it is a good thing that the prices are low. Ricardo Mendoza (parent) said,” The low gas prices are a good thing because it helps the economy.” People like Ricardo are happy that they are going to spend less money in gasoline and more money on things they want. The lowest gas price is at Sam’s Club and it is $1.64 and the highest is in Shell and it is $1.82.

The question is, why the low gas prices? Ricardo gave his opinion, “I think that the low prices are because the government wants to help us with our economy.” The actual reason is that there is more oil (supply) but there is a decrease in demand. When that happens, you’ll see prices go down.

Veronica Mendoza (parent) said, “This is affecting people because they are saving money and they are happy.” This shows that the low gas prices are affecting people in a good way.

In conclusion, the low gas prices are bringing joy to the people because gasoline is necessary for the car and now they are saving money with the low gas prices.

attenDANCE

Maybe you always ask yourself, why go to school? It is obviously necessary to have a good education and to be something in life, but sometimes that’s not good enough for the students. Now, there is one more reason to go to school. It’s about this ATTENDANCE activity where the students get to dance all crazy. The activity works like this: Every time everybody in your second period class comes to school, the teacher puts a letter of the word “attendance” up on the board and when you complete the whole word, at the end of class you get to dance and enjoy some fun music.

This activity does not encourage all of the students though. Andrea Ruiz (7) said, “It does not encourage me because it’s about dancing and that’s not fun.”

Some students don’t like dancing and that’s why they don’t enjoy this activity, but there is still that choice of just doing it to be competitive.

On the other hand, Mr. Bridges, the sixth grade health teacher said, “I think the students like it because my second period class looks forward to counting the students that are coming in and they like dancing.” Students are excited about this activity.

In conclusion, some students are enjoying this activity, but some aren’t. Everybody has their own opinion, but this sure is an activity that can encourage students to come to school. They like dancing or they simply like being competitive.

Mr. Bridges is pointing at the word and it seems that his second period class only needs a couple of letters to complete the word.

Welcome back Mr. Sellers!

Every school needs a principal and every principal needs at least one assistant principal. In Garner Middle School we have two assistant principals. Almost everyone knows their names. They are Mr. Sellers and Mrs. Northway. One day, the students woke up like always and went to school, but they didn’t know that they were receiving unexpected news. Mr. Sellers was leaving Garner for  several months.

Now Mr. Sellers is back! He left for 7 months to Bagcan Airfield Afghanistan because that was his duty as an Air Force Reservist.

“Im very excited to be back and it’s good to be back to some sense of normalcy,” Mr. Sellers said. He is excited to be back to Garner and he is ready to be our assistant principal again. 6th graders are used to Mr. Northwood and now they are getting to know our assistant principal, Mr. Sellers.

“I am glad that he’s back because I missed him,” Amy Medina (7) said. Students like her are glad that he’s back. They are glad that he’s back but they will also miss Mr. Northwood.

Some students think that he is a good leader for Garner. “He is a good leader because he’s strict but nice at the same time,” Elizabeth Beltran (7) said. The characteristics of a good leader are being strict, so the students obey the rules but also nice, so they can be loved. Mr. Sellers has those characteristics which make him a good leader for this middle school.

In conclusion, some students and teachers are glad that Mr. Sellers is back, but some aren’t. Either way students at Ganer Middle School say, “welcome back Mr. Sellers!’                                                                                         Mr. Sellers is in his office working because that is what he is soposed to be doing as an assistant principal                                         Mr. Sellers is in his office working because that is what he is soposed  to be doing.
