Are You Ready For Summer?

3, 2, 1, SUMMER!

With STAAR testing done and over with, Garner students can barely wait for this glorious time of year to begin. 8th graders are gearing up for high school, 6th graders are preparing to be in the middle of everything, and 7th graders are getting ready to be the new leaders of Garner. But before all this happens, there’s a time period where our skin gets darker, our drinks get colder, and life gets better; otherwise known as summer. Ah yes, summer…whether you like to relax on the beach, go to fun concerts, or just chill at home, there’s not a single doubt that summer is the perfect time to get rid of all the stress from school. No more tests, quizzes, grades, teachers, just summertime fun. Sadly, school isn’t over just yet. We still have approximately 9 days left of school, so don’t give up! Take care of all your missing assignments, get your grades up, and keep doing well in your classes so you won’t have to worry about summer school. (Because that’s no fun!) When asked what her plans were for the summer, Catherine Hittson (7) explained “I plan on going to Warped Tour, it’s going to be awesome!” So whatever you’re going to do during the summer, stay safe, have fun, and remember: don’t give up yet!

FUN NIGHT

On May 3rd, 2013 Garner celebrated the annual Garner Fun Night & Dance. Students of all grades came to hang out with their friends and dunk teachers in the dunking booth. There was food, laughter, and a whole lot of fun. Of course there was dancing. Yearling danced in the old gym to the music and had a blast. Mason Prevost (8) says, ” Fun Night was awesome, got to hang with friends and forget about the pressures of school.” Mason wasn’t the only one who had a great time, Meaghan Setterbo(8) says,”My favorite part of Fun Night was the dancing.”. Whether you were pushing through the obsticle course or dancing to you favorite song, Fun Night was, well, Fun.

Have You Heard Yet?

Get ready to see lines overflowing, people buying season passes, and lots of screaming and laughter! Because if you haven’t heard yet but Six Flags Fiesta Texas is coming out with an epic rollercoaster called the Iron Rattler. Are you ready to have some fun this summer? Well, your summer is going to be filled with an overwhelming amount of thrilling fun.

The Iron Rattler consists of:

“A staggering drop of 171 feet with an amazing drop angle of 81 degrees.”

“A blazing top speed of 70 mph.”

A few people were interviewed on what they thought about the new upcoming rollercoaster. Will this rollercoaster be a hit or a dull ride no one wants to ride on?

“I’m counting down the days until the Iron Rattler opens because I know this rollercoaster is going to be AWESOME!” exclaims Jenna Vega (7). She also says, “I’m looking forward to this ride because me and some of my friends are going to ride it this summer.” Also Kayla Oviedo (7) explains that ,“I have a feeling that this is going to be an awesome rollercoaster even though I hardly ride rollercoasters.”

I have a feeling that there will be a lot of screaming and shouting and don’t be surprised if they play the song “Scream and Shout” by Will.I.Am ft. Britney Spears! Hope you have fun!
