Super Bowl XLVII: Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers

Even before the actual game happened, many Garner students already knew who the obvious winner would be. “I think the Ravens are going to win” says Tomesha Lee (7).

In Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVII, played in New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers winning by a score of 34-31. The first half of the game was filled with many Ravens highlights including an amazing 56-yard touchdown by Jacoby Jones that put his team ahead 21-3. Any sort of victory for the 49ers seemed hopeless at that point. During the halftime show, Beyonce rocked the stage by singing her heart out, and showing off her great figure even after having a baby. Shortly after the halftime show, there was a power outage in the dome that affected half the stadium during the 3rd quarter and caused the game to be suspended for 34 minutes. In the second half of the game, after the lights came back, the 49ers made a surprising comeback. By the 4th quarter, the score was 28-23. A very close game indeed! In the end, the Baltimore Ravens still won the game by a 3 point lead.

The Haunted Side of San Antonio

In the 1930’s, here in San Antonio, a bus filled with children was making its way down towards an intersection, when it stopped on railroad tracks. Suddenly, a speeding train smashed into the bus killing 10 of the kids and the bus driver. “I know a friend who went there and saw the actual smashed bus” Andrea Garoutte (7) explains. The haunted train tracks are a huge site for people who are looking for a good scare. Supposedly, if you put baby powder on the bumper of your car, and park on the railroad tracks the handprints of the children will appear on your car and push you out of harm’s way to prevent you from the same sad fate they went through. Whether you believe in paranormal entities or not, or you’re just interested in having a good scare; then the haunted railroad tracks of San Antonio are the perfect place for you to visit. Happy Halloween!
