NFL – America’s Favorite Past Time

NFL football is as exciting as ever. We have seen a lot of football so far, but the first week was quite the trendsetter. It has been noted that America’s “Game of the Week” was the New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys. Eli Manning, star quarterback in the NFL, started off badly. His first pass of the year was intercepted by future Hall of Famer and Cowboy’s Defensive End, Demarcus Ware. The first points of the season for the Cowboys came from Dan Bailey, the kicker, as it was good on a long field goal. The New York Giants running back fumbled twice in the first half putting the Cowboys up by ten points at halftime. Though clearly being outplayed by the Cowboys in the first half, the Giants crawled their way back into the game despite two second half interceptions thrown by Eli Manning. Those two interceptions were both returned for touchdowns by Cowboy’s defensive backs, Barry Church and Brandon Carr. The Cowboys led 36-24 after those mistakes by Eli. But, Eli Manning led a drive down the field and scored a touchdown with about fifty seconds remaining, putting the score at 36-31. The only way for the Giants to have a chance of winning was to make an onside kick (10 yard kickoff) and recover the ball. The Giants and Cowboys set up in their onside kick formations. The Giants kicked it high in the air, but it was recovered by the Cowboys. The final score of a great game was 36-31. Cowboys got a “W”.
