Investigating Careers: Stop the Bleed Training

From Mrs. Leyva:

Investigating Careers took advantage of a free training hosted by Nurse Ramirez. The training covered how to help someone if they are injured and bleeding. The class was surprised to find out that the number one cause of death from an injury is severe bleeding. The students reviewed the steps to help individuals in the case of an emergency. 1. Make sure you are safe! You have to be safe in order to help others. 2. Call 911! The faster help arrives, the better! 3. Assess the injury and apply pressure to the wound. 4. Keep pressure on the wound until help arrives. Students completed online modules a well as hands on training conducted by Nurse Ramirez. Students were excited to learn how to use a tourniquet and interested in packing a wound to stop bleeding. Now, students are more equipped to help out in an emergency!
