Kelly’s Advice Column

By: Kelly and Caroline

Dear Kelly,

I’m failing three classes and I don’t know how to get them up. I have low test grades and a lot of missing work. I don’t understand what my teacher is telling us, it just doesn’t make any sense. My parents are angry and said if I don’t get the up soon they’ll take away my phone. Please give me tips on how to get my grades up, you’re my last hope!

Dear Anonymous,

If you’re failing a class or classes you can try to go to tutoring in the morning, the teachers will surely help you. You can also try to finish class work independently so when you take tests, it will be easier to understand the questions and get a good grade. You also must turn in your missing work, because that’s a zero until you turn the paper in and that largely affects your grade. You can also talk to your parents too and ask them how to get your grades up.

Dear Kelly,

My friend is getting bullied by one of the older kids, but he’s too scared to tell anyone about it. I want to help but I don’t know how. I’ve asked him what I can do to help but he tells me he’ll handle it on his own. I’m really nervous about how much his confidence must be dropping. What should I do to fix this?

Dear Anonymous,

If someone you know is being bullied you should go tell an adult, or if they are still being a to bully your friend after you told an adult, continue to tell teachers and parents until they stop bullying them. It will also help the person who is being bullied, and might help them get their confidence back. You shouldn’t be afraid to speak up for someone who is scared to do it for themselves. I know your friend will be very grateful and appreciative if you follow this advice.

Dear Kelly,

My friends are fighting and told me I had to choose which one I wanted to stay friends with. I replied saying that I want to stay friends with both of them and not pick sides. They said I have to pick one or have no friends at all. I don’t know what the right thing to do is and need help, can you give me a peaceful solution.

Dear Anonymous,

If both of your friends are in a fight and they want you to pick a side, don’t. It will just make it worse because the one that you didn’t pick will think that you turned against them and then bring you into the fight. You should try to resolve the problem by bringing all of your friends back together.
