Orchestra concert ends on a good note

The Johnson Orchestra started the year off on a strong beat after giving their fall concert on Thursday evening, October 21, in the Johnson auditorium. Their program featured an array of modern music with nice percussion effects, clear articulation, and smooth balance.

“I thought it went very well,” Orchestra Director Karen George said. “This music is their level of music.”

George appreciates the considerable growth the kids in her program have demonstrated as they learn to play together.

“I think that they’ve made a lot of progress,” she said. “It’s more than playing individually. If they can’t play together, it doesn’t mean anything. It’s a team effort.”

“I’m very proud of these students and everything they do.”

Forza Concertmaster Darian Thomas is also pleased with the orchestra’s success.

“I think we’ve done really good work with the music, and it’s a good sign for the rest of the year,” he said.

The orchestra calendar includes Region auditions on October 25 for Symphony Orchestra and November 6 for Philharmonic Orchestra, the November 13 Education Concert for 4th graders interested in the orchestra program, and the December holiday concerts for all music departments.
