Springtime marks the beginning of a long line of anticipated release dates for music albums and tours, including a noticeable streak for rock and nineties comebacks. Since 2010 was almost completely absent of a hard rock hit, 2011 is bound to make up for it’s disappearance.

The most talked about releases are between Radiohead (The King of Limbs), The Strokes (Angles, dropping March 22), and Foo Fighters (TBA).

“I’m so excited for all of them, [they’re] phenomenal, all of them. They’re just so great it’s hard to explain,” senior Stefan Palacios said.

Many of these rock classics haven’t had an album released since the mid-late 2000’s, such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have been chilling out on hiatus since the birth of lead singer Anthony Kiedis’ child. Others have been busy in the studio for separate projects. Beck, who hit the nineties alternative scene with his single “Loser,” has been busy working on the original music for the soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

The pop charts are also highly anticipating the arrival of Lady Gaga’s album “Born This Way,” releasing on May 24.

“I like the single, “Born This Way,” and I’m surprised…I think [the new album]’s going to be more techno, and she’s going to put more of a twist on it than she already has. I think she’s going to create another Lady Gaga fantasy,” Courtney Checchin said.

The list goes on and on, turning heads to news about new albums and studio work from bands like The Beastie Boys, Adele, Smith Westerns, The Mars Volta, The Shins, Cage the Elephant, Coldplay, Marilyn Manson, Lady Antebellum, and comedy-rap trio The Lonely Island (who have singles featured on Youtube right now). According to Streetdate.radio.com, bands who have been previously believed to be broken up, such as No Doubt and Blur, are also expected to have new albums hit the shelves later this year.
