A week in review 2/4

GOLF:

The girls golf team finished 2nd at the Lake Travis Lalapalooza at Barton Creek Golf Course in Austin.  Additionally, the girls traveled to San Angelo and successfully defended their title winning the San Angelo Spring Classic.  The Jags were led by Taylor Coleman and Nikki Long in the campaign.  Coleman set a course and tournament record at San Angelo Country Club shooting a 5 under par 67, as well as set a tournament record for the 2-day event after closing the 2nd round with an even par 72.  The team of Coleman, Long, Munoz, Reed, and Hull also broke the previous tournament record by 30 shots.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS:

The following athletes competed on Friday, February 1st against athletes from all over the state for the Special Olympics State Bowling Tournament. The place they received is also listed below.

AQUATICS:

On Friday and Saturday, Johnson swimmers and divers participated in the District meet at the Josh Davis Nanatorium. Based on their results, several of them qualified for the Regional tournament to be held on Saturday, February 9th at BAC’s aquatic center.

WINTERGUARD AND TWIRLERS:

Johnson Winterguard took first place in the Scholastic Open Class, at the Texas Colorguard Circuit Cedar Park Contest, competing against Cedar Park and Dripping Springs in their class. There were over 45 scholastic guards at the contest including Reagan, Bowie, Cedar Ridge, and many other strong programs, and Johnson came out on top.

Johnson twirlers Kelsey Eidson, Morgan Leach, Bekah Gonzales, and Breann Largent performed at the UIL Region 12 Contest at Sam Houston High School and represented Johnson with class and a high level of excellence in their Solo performances.
DANCE TEAMS:

This past weekend, the Johnson Dance program kicked off their competition season at New Braunfels High School at an HTE Competition.The Legacies Dance Team, Belles Drill Team, & Texas Ladies Pep Squad won 1st place in all of their routines as well as winning 1st in the Large Varsity, JV, & Pep Squad divisions. The teams also won specialty awards such as Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Entertainment, Outstanding Technique, Outstanding Presentation, and Sweepstakes.

To end the evening the Legacies Dance Team won 1st runner-up Grand Champions and Belles Drill Team won Grand Champions, along with having 2 senior members of the Legacies Dance Team as Miss High Kick Finalists (Heather Foster & Courtney Heausler) and the title going to Courtney Heausler in the final round. Leah Alonzo (Legacies Lt. Colonel) was placed 2nd in the 11th- 12th solo division.

Legacies and Belles officers also represented the program very well. Belles officers won 1st in the JV officer jazz division and Legacies officers won 2nd in the Large Varsity division.
