Softball shuts out competition as they head into playoffs

The Jags softball team have put together a hot streak in which their pitching has been phenomenal over a recent stretch of games. They have shutout Roosevelt and Reagan over the spring break. However the pitching is not the only thing red hot for the Jags as their bats are smoking with a 16 run game versus Roosevelt and 13 against Reagan.

“We are using these wins for confidence as we approach districts and the playoffs” senior Melanie Roe said.

Despite a total team effort from the Jags in their shutout wins; Roe pitched a no- hitter against Roosevelt. She struck out 11 batters over that 2 game stretch. Due to their strong performances the Jags are still undefeated in district play. Johnson’s current goal is to remain atop the standings in order to earn a number 1 playoff seed.

“My coach and I have been working hard for this moment (the no-hitter) and will use it as a boost for the rest of our season” Roe said.
