Girls’ soccer in un precedented form

It’s official! The Johnson soccer program have claimed their first district title. The girls soccer team has been dominant all year long, suffering only one loss in district and just three losses overall (mind you that two of those were to the two teams in the state championship last year in Plano West and Katy Seven Lakes). The team has managed impressive victories over top competition MacArthur with a score of 3-1 and Reagan with 4-0.

“It’s really exciting because we’ve come close before and had a lot of success, but we’ve never been able to say we’re district champs, but now we can. But we also have the target on our back too so we know we really have to come out and perform as well as we can,” senior Madi Gordon said.

The Jags end their season on Friday against the Madison Mavericks, and after that their alleged first round matchup will be against New Braunfels Canyon on Thursday the 28. Even though they may not be the most imposing opponent, the team is going to be sure not to look past anybody after their defeat at the hands of New Braunfels last year that put an end to what could have been a deep run in the playoffs.

“Last year we didn’t even think about that game, our heads were already in the next round preparing for the next game and we got shocked. We can’t let that happen again,” senior Allie Gerner said.
