Golf, tennis off to state

 Once again the Jags are at it, proving themselves to be the most dominant program in boys golf.

Boys golf and girls golf are representing Johnson at state on April 29 and 30.

On the girls’ side junior Nicki Long and sophomore Taylor Coleman are the frontrunners for the girls so far in the in early stages of the tournament. Both squads have five golfers representing johnson and look to have a strong first day to get them on track. The Jags will be led by Marshall Martin who will tee off at 1230, followed by Sean Meehan at 1240, Jake Judkins at 1250, Christian De La Cruz at 1 and Jake Goodman at 110.

Johnson tennis sent freshman Chuyang Guan in the singles and sophomore Paula Gutierrez-Rodriguez and senior Florencia Bigatti in the doubles to the state tournament this year.

The 2013 tennis state tournament is being held in the Pennick-Allison tennis center in Austin, Texas.

Guan, who is the fifth ranked girls tennis player in Texas, placed first overall after defeating Cy Ranch 6-0 6-4. Guan is the first johnson tennis player in school history to finish first in the state tournament.

The doubles team of Florencia Bigatti and Paula Gutierrez-Rodriguez and lost in the quarterfinals to finish off a successful tournament for the Jaguars.
