Golf team posting gains already

The Jaguar boys team started the year off with solid play at the Bart Granger Golf Tournament, which is one of the deepest fields in the state, hosting 50 plus teams from across the state as well as a handful of teams from Arizona.  The Jags were led by senior Christian De La Cruz, juniors Sean Meehan and Marshall Martin. They also had significant contributions from newcomers Jacob Baller and Thomas Burchfield. The Jaguar Boys also had a strong showing at the Fall State Preview in Austin, where they posted a season low round of 298.  The Jags were once again led with strong play by senior Christian De La Cruz as well as juniors Sean Meehan and Marshall Martin.  Jacob Baller and Ryan Kempf had career low in this tournament helping the Jags with this season low. Through 2 rounds of Ryder Cup play with O’Connor H.S. the Jaguar boys hold a lead of 5.5-3.5 over the Panthers.  The boys will next open up matches with Smithson Valley this week, looking to continue their good play.

As for the girls golf team they had a strong showing and a 4th place finish at the Swing 4 the Cure tournament held at Brackenridge

Golf Course.  The lady Jags were led by strong play from senior Nikki Long and junior Taylor Coleman.  Loryn Munoz and Caileigh Reed posted solid rounds in the seventies while senior Jaylen Dawson, and sophomore Haleigh Jordan both posted a personal best during the event. Sophomore Yesenia Alexander also played well showing great potential for the young Jaguars. The ladies will open matches with Smithson Valley this week and will wrap up the fall season in November at Concan Golf Course at the NISD Fall Invitational.
