Do you like to read? Do you like to enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee while you read? Well, there’s finally a place for you, and it’s located in our very own library- The Den. Every year there’s something new at JHS and this year the students finally get something they’ve been craving every morning for a cheap price.

Most Johnson students and teachers like the new cafe and others love it because it’s easy to access.

“I like that it’s very easy to access and I don’t have to go out of my way to get it. It’s right there, and it’s a easier way to get coffee,” senior Samantha Martinez said. “My favorite drink is ‘Dark Magic.’”

“I love it,” junior Felicia Ganues said.”I get the hot chocolate and then I get the oven baked BBQ chips…”

“Its terrific, the hot chocolate is the best,” senior William Baca said.

“I do like it and they have ‘Vanilla Cream’ so I’m happy,” senior Cecilia Hernandez said.

“Aww dude, it’s freaking awesome, I get the coffee and put a little bit of cream and sugar in that,” senior Nick Hinkle said.

Librarian Terri Sanchez decided this was a good idea for the campus after hearing about another school that made it happen.

“I actually did, I had read that there was another high school that had something similar but not as extensive as we have done it…it encouraged students to come into the library. I saw this a couple of years ago and I approached Mr.Mehlbrech and he said ‘yes,’ I could do it and we worked through the hurdles to get it passed and approved,” Sanchez said.

“The proceeds are all going directly to the library,” Sanchez said, regarding any profits made at The Den.

The food and drinks at The Den are very cheap so make sure you check it out.

In addition to convenience, The Den’s prices are affordable.

Hot Tea-  $1

Hot Chocolate-  $1

Coffee-  $1

Special Coffee-  $1.50

Large water-  $1

Snacks-  75 cents

Instead of going across the street to Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks and risking being late to class, just walk into the school library. The Den is open at 7:30 in the morning till about 4:30 after school and closes during breakfast and lunch.
