Textbook distribution continues as school year moves forward

Even though the school year has already started, students are still able to pick up their textbooks

“If they haven’t already got their textbooks. They can go ahead and contact me directly or the front office,” Assistant principal Jonathan Campbell said.

Students will need to send an email to someone in the front office to coordinate what time they need to be up at school.

“You just have to come up to the campus, ring the doorbell, let us know your name and which book you need to pick up,” Campbell said.

After students have planned a time with the office staff, they will drive up to the school, go to the front door, and ring the doorbell, when  a staff member opens the door students should tell them their name, grade, and what book they’re picking up.

“We’ve pre-checked out as many of the books as we can so that way we can just grab that book and walk it out to the student,” Campbell said. “We’re basically going to go about another week and a half and then we’re actually going to check those books back in so they’ll just go back to the book room.”

Even if the books are checked back into the bookroom students are still able to pick their textbooks. Students will follow the same process as before it’s just going to take longer than usual.

“There were some books we passed out before the schedules were finalized,” Campbell said.

About 1,200 books were passed out before school started. So some students may now have classes that they weren’t enrolled in when the first textbook collection happened. Now they will need to go through the process of getting the correct textbooks for the classes they are taking.

“Everybody’s been nice, parents have been nice, students have been nice. So it’s worked out as best as we can for the situation,” Campbell said.
