People five years of age and above are eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccination. Eighteen and older are recommended to get a booster shot, however, the Pfizer-BioNTech booster shot is the only one approved for 12 and older.

“I had a few symptoms,” junior Tristen Stout said. “I kind of felt a little bit sick about 24 hours later. Other than that, I felt completely fine. It was better than the first two shots. The booster was much easier.”

According to cdc.gov, you should get the booster at least five months after completing your primary COVID-19 vaccinations. Places such as HEB, Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart are offering free Pfizer booster shots, but you will have to book an appointment through their websites.

To schedule an appointment with CVS you need to go to www.cvs.com and click on the red button mentioning “Schedule a COVID-19 booster shot.” Before you are able to schedule, the website will ask you questions such as if you have any of the symptoms, or tested positive in the past 14 days. After completing those questions it will ask your date of birth.

The CDC has determined that taking the flu and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time is completely safe. The CVS website will ask you what type of vaccines you would like to get, including the flu vaccine. Specify which COVID dose you need, in this case, a booster. The date of the last dose will be needed to continue with the appointment. You will be asked for a zip code, or city and state, location, and the time of where and when you would like to get the booster shot. Once you’ve selected a time slot they will hold it up to 30 minutes while you complete the registration process.

To make an appointment with HEB go to www.heb.com and pick a place where you would like to get the shot. Then the website will ask you to give details such as – vaccine manufacturer, appointment date, and time. HEB will give you around 20 minutes to complete your appointment with personal information like the dose, previous manufacturer name, date when you received your previous dose, names, email, phone number, address, etc. After, click continue and finish up the rest of the registration process.

According to Healthline and some analysis from the United Kingdom – the Pfizer booster will offer from 71 to 76 percent of protection from the Omicron variant while having a 97 percent against Delta.
