This situation happens to everybody; you don’t do your homework or study for that test because you’re too worried about beating that high score on that new video game. So, stop playing your Super Mario and follow these study tips.
“Well academics comes first, they should take care of that first before joining a club because if your failing, most of the time you can’t be in it anyway,” Coach Lopez said.
Well, this tip is for the kids with after school activities. For example football, volleyball, or University Interscholastic League (UIL) clubs and many more. In sports, no pass definitely means no play.
“I spend a good amount of time on each (practicing a musical instrument and homework),” Carolina Fitzpatrick (6K) said.
Fitzpatrick has homework like many, but plays the Oboe (musical instrument) in her spare time. She has to go to school at about 7:30 a.m. to get musical lessons. Fitzpatrick works hard and succeeds because of her dedication to school work.
Lauren Szymansky (6K) is as dedicated to doing well in school as Fitzpatrick.
“I go to clubs and then usually go home and spend a good 20-30 minutes on playing my band instrument and 20-30 minutes on homework,” Szymansky said.
In conclusion, if you work hard, it pays off in the long run.

Advice for an extrememly busy schedule.

Lauren is in orchestra… And what I do, since I’m in UIL, Orchestra and have a bunch of GT homework, and I have to read books for book club, is that I split them up. I do UIL when I absolutely have to, like at clubs. Orchestra when I’m plain bored and I do my homework late at night. My system isn’t very efficient, since I stay up very late (I sleep at around one in the morning), but it works for me. There should always be a time for everything you do, schoolwork and fun time. I don’t go on the computer or play my XBox or watch T.V. on weekdays–I just do school relatated things and chores, so I have weekends all to myself.
