What I Did This Summer

I hope everybody had an awesome summer. I know I did, I went lots of places with my family and helped Mr. Hicks at school. In June, just a week after school let out, I helped Mr. Hicks with a technology camp for some of the new sixth graders. It was lots of fun, and I got to meet a lot of fun kids. We taught them how to work with Photoshop. They all enjoyed it. In August, I helped Mr. Hicks voluntarily with another camp: a NASA camp. That was also for the soon to be sixth graders. We had lots of fun doing that too. We taught them at this camp how to work with Adobe Premiere. With Mr. Hicks’s help they made lots of cool videos. It was a BLAST! So now almost 100 sixth graders know me. It makes my school day interesting having several twinkies waving and saying “hi” to me.

One of the cool things I did was I went on a 10 day car trip to see family in Ohio and Iowa. In Ohio we had lots of fun, and it was the first time I had been there when it was warm. After about four days there, we went to see my great-grandma in Iowa. That was fun too because we got to play board games and I even got to play Wii Bowling with her. Then one day, as we always do, we went to another city in Iowa called Pella. It is really a neat city because it is a small little Dutch town. We always go to this little meat market and bakery. The Fire bologna from the meat market is AWESOME! And they make the best cookies, aside from the homemade chocolate chip cookies your mom makes you at home.

Another cool place we went to was: a couple weeks ago around the 17th of August, my step brother was over at my dad’s house, so we went to Sea World and Natural Bridge Caverns. Trust me, Sea World is not as fun when it’s 102 degrees out and you forget to bring swimsuits. Natural Bridge Caverns was even more fun that the first time I went because I am old enough to remember it: the last time I went I was 6 and I don’t remember a thing from it. Also because we went zip lining. It was a little scary at first, but after you take that very first step, it is nothing but fun! Overall, It was a totally AWESOME summer!
