Magnet High Schools

This year the 8Th graders must decide what school they would want to go to, either a regular academic school or a magnet program offering school. There are about 8 different magnet programs in the N.E.I.S.D. school place. These are some of the schools and explanations of each of their magnet programs.

Design And Technology Academy includes the expansion in learning in these kinds of arts mechanical engineering, Web page design, video game design, programming languages, architecture, fashion design, graphic arts, animation, and digital rendering and modeling. Engineering & Technologies Academy studies in these kinds of types of engineering manufacturing,communication graphics, principles of engineering, drafting and computer Aided-design, Geographic information and system, and information technologies.

Madison has a Agriscience Magnet Program this program is about dealing with animals. This program is to teach you how to care the right way for animals and how to become a veterinarian. In this program teachers give you the responsibility of feeding, caring, grooming, veterinarian check-ups, and training.

Lee high school has a wide selection of magnet schools such as,  North East School Of The Arts, International School Of The Americas and  STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Academy.

North East School Of The Arts includes training in cinema, creative writing, dance, instrumental music, musical theater, technical theater and visual arts.

International School Of The Americas classes that are offered at Robert E. Lee High School are Fine arts, Driver’s education, ROTC. Students are required to maintain an average of 80%. Students must receive honors for most ISA courses. Exceptions to the honors weighting are Spanish I and Algebra I.

MacArthur has only one magnet program which is Electrical Systems and Technology. These are the courses offered at MacArthur having to do with the magnet program: Principles of Architecture and Construction, Electrical Technology, Advanced Electrical Technology,  Practicum in Construction Management, Career Preparation I. What grades these classes go to and the credits for each you can get by taking them:

Principles of Architecture and Construction-9th credits= 1.0

Electrical Technology&Advanced Electrical Technology- 10th and 11th credits= 2.0

Career Preparation I-11th and 12th credits=3.0

Practicum in Construction Management-12th credits=2.0
