On The Court: Volleyball tryouts

Wednesday the 28th of August was the first day of volleyball tryouts for all 7th and 8th grade girls at Krueger Middle School. It sounds nerve wrecking doesn’t it? Well to be honest it really wasn’t! It was actually fun for me. At first I was not so sure if I wanted to go but now I am really glad I did.

All tryouts ran from 6:15 to 7:45 AM. In between that time Coach B had all seventh grade girls that showed up to practice, including me, doing intense  training. That day we mostly did bumping and running. Then the next day we practiced serving, bumping and running. Coach B had said she would tell us our team { either A,B or C} on Tuesday because a lot of girls drop out, so that way we will know for sure. She also said that people that make team A and B would have practice in the morning, same time as tryouts, and people who make team C would have practice in the afternoon from 3:30 to 4:45. Coach B said that we would have a lot of stuff to learn because our first game is next Thursday, how exciting is that!

During the summer I was really nervous and I really did not  want to do it for our first game but now I know the routine and I am getting used to everything. Trying out for volleyball has taught me to be less shy and to learn more responsibility.
