Team USA Wins Gold in Turkey

Team USA Wins Gold in FIBA Worlds

For the first time in 16 years, Team USA won Gold in the championship game of FIBA World Championships 81 to 64 over Turkey.

This Team USA team was called the “B-Team” because none of the team USA Players of the 2008 Olympic Team played in this FIBA Team. Without the talent of superstars like Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade, Team USA Coach Mike Krzyzewski had to make a team to try to compete in the worlds.

He ended up with veterans Lamar Odom and Chauncey Billups but the rest of this team was 22 years and younger. Team members Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Rusell Westbrook, Rudy Gay, Andre Iguadol and the rest of the team didn’t seem like they would go undefeated.

They matured and played like a quality team as Durant lead this team to gold medal game and beat an undefeated team from Turkey to get gold and gain the MVP title. He scored 28 points including seven 3- pointers and scored a U.S. record 38 points in an earlier game.

Durant has earned his spot as a starter in 2012 Olympic Games in London. He is definitely a future NBA MVP and a future NBA Champion. At 21, Durant is the youngest scoring champion and he has a lot of time to win multiple titles this era.

The NBA looks to be more exciting this year as the era of Durant and Lebron James is ushered in and the era of Kobe Bryant is on its way out.
