Varsity Football Looks to Make a Showing

A look at the 2011 season

Head Coach Danny Kloza begins his second season with the Vols and has 24 returning lettermen and 13 returning starters to bolster the team.

The team faces a tough schedule in District 26-5A but the team is confident they will fare better than the 2-8 record of last year. They look to place higher than last year’s seventh in district competition as well as come out strong in the preseason.

Returning from last year is quarterback Gabriel Rangel who completed 100 of 218 passes for 946 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 344 years and four touchdowns.

Internet site mysa.com singled out the following seniors as strong for the season:

5-10, 175 lb. Lonnie Bradford as Defensive Back and Wide Receiver

6-2, 225 lb. Stephen Gomez at Defensive End and Tight End

6-0, 180 lb. Matt McCracken at Safety and Wide Receiver

5-10, 185 lb. Josh McMillen at Runningback

5-10, 185 lb. Gabriel Rangel at Quarterback
