“Occupy Wall Street,” a non-violent protest,  has now spread across the nation. A rally appropriately called “Occupy San Antonio” is being held in Hemisfair park.

The rally was created to protest corporate greed and economic inequality in Wall Street, New York. Thousands have been camping there for weeks, organizations providing free food and music to keep the protestors going.

The now-famous expression, “We are the 99%,” stems from evidence that the Top 1% earners take in 10% of the income in the United States. The 99% want to spread the wealth.

It isn’t clear how long the protest will last, or whether the demonstrators have specific demands to be met.
