Fellow students, I get it. Acne is nowhere near the best part of your high school experience. But have no fear, I’m here to give out some tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.
Wash up- Washing your face is a must! A wash in the morning and night should do just fine. You don’t have to use a top of the line acne product either. A little secret of mine; Dove soap is my savior! It’s gentle on the skin and doesn’t dry it out. Follow that up with a gentle oil-free moisturizer.
Don’t touch- Try your very best to avoid touching your face throughout your day – resting your head on your hand, rubbing your forehead, etc. We do it so often it goes unnoticed. Our hands and objects carry bacteria that can cause you to have pimples. Just like our hands spread bacteria, our hair holds natural oils that can clog your pores as well. *Try to keep your hair out of your face (especially when working out).
Drink up- Water does just as much good for your skin as it does for your body. Staying hydrated helps deliver healing nutrients that speed up the acne healing process. Blame it on being a teen; water flushes out excess hormones, regulating the ones that can cause acne.
Chill out- Stressing out can take a huge part in your breakouts. You stress because of the fact you broke out, reason being, you broke out! It’s an ongoing cycle! Try drinking some warm tea, jamming to music of your choice, and anything else to help you unwind. A steamy bath should do the trick. Not only will it relax you, but the steam will open up your pores. Win, win.
