Smells like teen spirit or smells like a rumor?
The Sun raised eyebrows everywhere days after the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death when reports came that there was a Nirvana biopic with the working title All Apologies in the works and that among the choices to play the late legendary frontman was everybody’s favorite brooding vampire, Robert Pattinson.
Kurt Cobain was the leader of one of the most talented and promising bands of the 90’s, Nirvana. He had a history of drug and emotional problems before taking his life on April 5, 1994.
The British magazine also reported that Pattinson has been in contact with Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love. Love is said to be of some help with the film, aiding the director with casting, screenplay and music. While Love’s other choices to play Kurt are Ryan Gosling and James Mcavoy, she is thrilled that Scarlett Johansson is one of the top choices to play her since Johansson is friendly with Love and Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean.
So could the rumor mill just be working overtime? If not, Pattinson could be going from fanging to head banging. It would be refreshing to see him stage dive into something new from what he is mostly known for, which would not only add to his acting resume, but would also put his musical talents to good use since he thinks of himself “more of a musician than an actor.”
What are the odds that this is true? We know Robert Pattinson is big business, but is he really talented enough to play the legendary Kurt Cobain? We all said the same thing when we heard Kristen Stewart was going to play Joan Jett in The Runaways. And obviously, our expectations were above what we thought. So who knows what could happen?
So be on the look out for Robert Pattinson in a “Smells Like Teen Spirit” music biopic on an MTV channel near you.
