San Antonio Loves Rock ‘N’ Roll: Joan Jett Comes To The Rodeo

On February 24, San Antonio gets to take a trip back to the 80’s as female rock legend Joan Jett will perform at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

Jett’s career began at the tender age of 15 as the guitarist for the all-girl punk band, The Runaways. After constant fighting and jealousy, the band broke up by 1977.

In 1980, Jett headed off to England in search of a solo career. But after her debut album was rejected 23 major labels, she created her own label: Black Heart Records. Her album spawned her most recognized tune, “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll”.

Jett has been dubbed “The Godmother of Punk” and her label has signed many bands, including San Antonio’s own Girl In A Coma.

What song will she open with? Will she surprise us with a song from her Runaways days? One thing is for sure: this is an event that Joan Jett fans, young and old, wil cherish forever.

Even at 53, Jett still looks as good as when she was 15!
