In a Faculty meeting and a letter to parents Friday (Letter to Parents 2012) , Principal Michael Cardona announced he will be leaving Lee as head principal and moving on to take a position with Houston ISD.
Thursday he was notified he was appointed the next Chief Middle School Officer for Houston ISD, the seventh largest school district in the nation. He will take the new position on July 2, 2012.
He has served as Lee principal for three years. Before that, he was principal at Driscoll Middle School.
“I thank you for allowing me the prividege of serving as principal,” his letter states. “This is a special community and a special campus and I will miss everyone. I have always encouraged students to strive for more than they think they are capable and now I have the opportunity to put my words into action.”
