Today is National Mole Day, to celebrate chemistry and how chemistry has improved our lives.
The mole is the SI unit for quantity in a chemical reaction.
Here is a poem to celebrate the day:
If there’s one thing to say about his number,
It would be
It’s taller than the highest mount
It’s wider than the greatest sea
In terms of people I believe
One million is a sensible pop.
But there’s trillions of the molecules
In one minute ink drop
Amadeo gave us a way to imagine
He gave us a way to count and teach
These bodies we call molecules
Which for so long seemed far out of reach
