Volleyball Season Ends; Statistics Shape Season

Volleyball season has come to an end and for some, it is a time to reflect back on their high school career and their senior season.

The season had some ups and downs, highlighted by some tournament and regular-game victories over teams like Wagner, Stevens and John Jay ion tournaments as well as Edison and Burbank early in the season.

The team ended up with a 17-21 record overall. They won the bronze division of the Austin Tournament, won third place in the Floresville Tournament’s Silver Division and third in the Consolation bracket of the San Antonio ISD tournament.

Brianna Duran was named All Tournament in Austin as well as 1st team All-District 26-5A. Duran led the team in Aces, Kills and Hit percent with 44, 302 and .195, respectively. She also finished the season with 296 digs.

Chloe Hohman and Shauni Battles were Honorable Mention All-District 26-5A. Hohman let the team in digs with 524.

Other highlights on the team were Mia Benavides with 463 assist and 270 digs as well as Makenzie Delong averaging 29.5 blocks a game.

Missy Huerta finished the season with 137 kills, 23.5 blocks per game and .186 hit percentage.

Adriana Gamez totaled 93 assists while Rusty Hicks averaged 11.5 blocks and added 24 assists.

Felicia Gonzlaez and Shauni Battles finished with .134 hit percent each.
