Scholastic Art Exhibit Opens Friday; Honors NESA, Lee Artists

The opening of the Scholastic Art exhibit and awards ceremony is Friday from 6 – 9 p.m. at Say Si, 1518 South Alamo.  North East ISD and NESA always make an impressive showing being honored with several of the regional awards.

This year NEISD won 59 percent of all Gold Key, 50 percent of Silver Keys and 54 percent of the Honorable Mentions.

Artworks receiving a Gold Key will be sent to New York for judging at the National level.

American Visions & Voices Nominees: Five works are selected out of all Gold Key works (across categories) as the “Best of Show” for each region. NEISD students also received two of the five American Visions & Voices awards.

“Congratulations again for another outstanding performance by the fabulous visual art teachers and their students,” said Gloria Hill, NEISD visual arts director.

National Medallists are celebrated at a prestigious Carnegie Hall ceremony and have their work showcased in reputable galleries in New York City.
