Album Review

Donald Glover, known as Childish Gambino the rapper, has released his second album that proves to be his most creative project yet. Gambino aka Donald Glover takes the listener into the personal moments of his life while giving solid beats, jazzy interludes, soft R&B tracks, and rocking guitar solos.

Because The Internet is Childish Gambino’s message to the world, using “the internet” as a language to convey his personal experience with his listeners, and will often quote internet culture such as “Ain’t nobody got time for that”, hashtags, and online conversations. Gambino’s album’s message of dissatisfaction is shown through his lyrics of personal experience, wanting to taken seriously as a rapper and a person despite his high society background. The album contains 19 tracks, each song talks about a different point in Gambino’s life,  his most lyrical track is Sweatpants, where Gambino raps about his reflection on how people view him as a “spoiled, rich kid” while his most musical is Worldstar where Gambino uses mastery over the song’s transitions and interludes.

Overall, 4.5 out of 5 stars.
