ISA students had a great time at the fundraiser.
On September 3, the MUNSA XIX (Model United Nations San Antonio) Secretariat held a fundraiser at Beto’s Latina Comida on Broadway to raise money for Opportunity International, the NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) partner for MUNSA XIX.
Beto’s was the first MUNSA fundraiser in the 2014-2015 school year. Upcoming fundraisers include the school’s second annual MUNSA Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, October 18 and a drive in movie screening in December. Registration for the MUNSA Vision Run/Walk is available here and more information about the non-governmental organization partner is here.
Opportunity International provides multiple financial services for individuals in 22 developing countries all over the world, and MUNSA XIX will be supporting their microfinance program by donating $4,500 towards micro loans. The theme of this year’s conference, innovation, aligns with the mission of Opportunity International and microfinance by empowering entrepreneurs and providing them with the chance to support their communities and families with a business. Reaching the club’s goal of $4,500 will provide 15 entrepreneurs with an average loan of $270.
Model United Nations San Antonio (MUNSA) is the largest student run conference in the United States. Students from throughout Texas, the United States, and Mexico travel to participate in Mock UN simulations. This year the conference will be held at Trinity University from January 7-9, 2015.
If you are interested in registering for the conference you may sign up here or contact Eva Howard.
