On Tuesday, Oct. 21, 20 schools met up at the AT&T Center to be congratulated by the San Antonio Spurs for their efforts on trying to make a difference in their community called The Spur’s Team Up Challenge.
The Spur’s Team Up Challenge is a project that encourages all types of students to find solutions to a problem in their community, and helps them establish a grant for their solution. Each of the schools were given $2,500 of seed money for their projects.
The 20 semifinalist win $2,500 and in April, the five finalist will be given $20,000 for their projects. Of these 20 semifinalist, one of them was ISA’s Social Entrepreneurs led by Joshua Duelm, ISA AP junior American History teacher, and plan to be one of the five finalist teams.
Currently, the Social Entrepreneurs have teamed up with Jackson Keller Elementary to help build a garden for the little ones to enjoy. The Social Entrepreneurs also plan to build a garden here on campus so the little kids won’t be getting all the fun, more information on that as it comes.
