Benito Herrera, a senior from Lee High School was recently notified that he was accepted into the Pre-Employment Architectural & Construction Exploration (P.A.C.E.) Program. P.A.C.E. was created to help students learn about the opportunities that are available in the field of construction. The P.A.C.E. Program takes students through a comprehensive exploration of the construction industry and while the program has just started for Benito, he has already attended the required classes and is excited about what he has experienced so far.
- Senior Benito Herrera said he is excited to learn firsthand what Architecture and Construction is all about.
He was only one of three students from Lee to be selected after screening from P.A.C.E. In order to be accepted into the program, students must first be nominated by one of their teachers and in his case, he was nominated by David Rubalcaba, a STEM robotics teacher.
“On the first day, we discussed how important safety is on a construction site,” Herrera said. “I didn’t realize there was that much safety that went into these types of jobs.”
Benito is glad to be in the program because he was not sure whether to choose to enter the workforce immediately after high school graduation or go to college.
“P.A.C.E. gives me an option that I will be ready for. I am also glad to be meeting with possible employers during classes, so I might not have to look too long if I decide to go this route,” Herrera said.
