Dance Teams Show Well

The Rebel Rousers and Dixie Drillers found success at the 2015 American Dance and Drill Competition in the Alamo Convocation Center on Saturday, March 7.newadtslogo2

The Dixie Drillers received Best Overall Presentation, Technique, Precision and Choreography in the entire competition, the Judges Award in Jazz and Pom, Sweepstakes Award, and the Gussie Nell Davis Award for scoring 90’s and above on all three routines. Overall, the Dixie Drillers received fourth place in the best of the best division and the Best In Class award which is awarded to the highest scoring team in the entire Junior Varsity division.

The Rebel Rousers received Best Overall Presentation and Best Overall Technique in the entire competition, the Judges Award in all three routines, Sweepstakes Award, and the Gussie Nell Davis Award for scoring 90’s and above on all three routines.  Overall, the Rebel Rousers received the Best Sportsmanship Award which was voted on by forty other teams from the competition, Third place in the best of the best division, and Best In Class First Runner-Up which is awarded to one of the highest scoring teams in the entire Small Varsity division.  Colonel Alexia Cardona and Senior Rebel Rouser Adam Salgado represented their team well and were each awarded Solo Runner-Up in the Small High School category.

“Overall these ladies and gentlemen represented our school well with class and pride,” director Christina Alanis said. “I am EXTREMELY proud of them. Their hard work and commitment truly paid off.”
