Mac Football Back on Track

What loss? The MacArthur Brahmas bounced back from last week’s setback against Roosevelt as they beat the Churchill Chargers 49-32 Friday night. While offense was strong with Clinton Killough completing  203 yards from 11 of the 16 completed passes, defense proved to be just as capable with scoring.

Edward Ortiz’s sack on Churchill QB Warren Truesdale led to the fumble that allowed Cameron Clark to rush for a 60 yard touchdown.  Other highlights included defensive tackle Chris McCormick’s tipped screen pass leading to Ben Munster’s interception and touchdown late in the third quarter. Both Jace Amaro and David Eberwine, the Brahmas’ tight end and wide receiver, attained  many long scoring passes during the second half; some passes even stretched to as many as 79 yards.

Learning from last week’s loss to Roosevelt, the Brahmas were and are eager to avoid the same mistake of losing grip in the latter part of the game. MacArthur football can indeed continue on the road to state.
