Crunchy Oven Baked Chicken Toes

Crunchy Oven Baked Toes from www.foodnetwork.com

Don’t worry, the name is not literal. You will not be eating the toes of a chicken. The reasoning behind the name is unknown, but my guess is because of their plump, oval appearance. Besides the strange name, Crunchy Oven Baked Chicken Toes are, by far, a cut above the typical chicken nuggets. First off these are not fried and, they contain actual chicken, making them the superior choice. These major munchies are ideal for movie nights with your friends, especially if you want to dazzle them with your skills in the kitchen. They are fairly easy to make; they have simple ingredients and only about 25 minutes in all: 10 minutes for prep time and 15 for cooking. In the recipe I used their were only about six or seven pieces per person, but, if needed, the recipe can be doubled . Crunchy Oven Baked Chicken Toes are without a doubt my favorite, and I recommend them for anyone looking for an easy-fix for dinner. ( This is my renovation of Rachel Rays original recipeĀ )

Ingredients:

1 cup corn flakes

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 1/2 pounds chicken breast tenders, 2 packages, cut into 2-inch pieces

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

2 eggs, beaten

1/4 cup honey mustard ( for dipping sauce)

1/4 cup barbecue sauce ( for dipping sauce)

Directions: Turn the oven on to 375 degrees F. In a pie pan or shallow, large dish, pour out the corn flakes. Crush the cereal up with your hands. Mix in bread crumbs, sugar , salt, pepper, and allspice. Drizzle 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil evenly over the breading, tossing and turning it to mix the oil all through the bread crumbs and crushed-up corn flakes. Pour the oil out slowly. A vegetable oil bottle has a big opening so, 3 tablespoons will pour out pretty quickly, probably by the time you count to 5. Cut the chicken fingers into toes, 2-inch pieces. Turn the chicken in flour, eggs then in then the crunchy breading Arrange the chicken toes on a nonstick baking sheet. Go and wash your hands, then place the chicken toes in the oven and cook 15 minutes or until crisp and brown all over. Mix together honey mustard and barbecue sauce in a small bowl. Serve hot chicken toes with honey mustard barbecue sauce for dipping then enjoy!
