Indie Affinity: New Music from Florence + The Machine and Phantogram

Phantogram is unique in the electronic genre; the psych-pop pair have a sound like The Kills meets Washed Out. The duo claim to draw inspiration from artists such as Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, and David Bowie, which can easily be discerned by their sound. I’m currently extolling their latest Nightlife EP, released November 1, is what I’m currently extolling. This 6 song collection lives up to its name in that its chilled out, trippy beats suit late nights. This EP appeases my affinity for both electronic music and indie pop. The catchy Don’t Move” is my personal favorite.

Next, I’m very excited to announce that the new Florence + The Machine album came out as of November 3. The 25 year old’s sophomore album, Ceremonials, is full of catchy, belted out tracks. The mystic-pop sound of this album is fun and heavy all at once. “Heartlines” is one of my favorites though all of the songs coincide, making the collection flow. Fans accustomed with her first album, Lungs, will be content with this release, as they share the same effervescent sound.
