Ending the Alamo Heights Invitational Soccer Tournament with a 1-1 (W-L) record, the boys’ soccer team defeated Steele 1-0 Jan. 9 and lost to New Braunfels-Canyon 1-0 Jan. 10. Inclement weather ended the tournament early and changed the competition from double elimination to single elimination.

The game against #8 ranked Steele ended regulation deadlocked at 0-0, so the game went into penalty kicks. Junior goalie Kory Morawietz entered the shootout in place of senior goalie Jose Barragan.

Back and forth both teams scored, but, once the penalty kick round tied at six, Morawietz recorded the first save of overtime and won the game for the team.

Against NB-Canyon, the boys did not end up so lucky. A goal 11 minutes into the first half gave Canyon the lead, which they would hold on to for the remainder of the game.
