Girls dominate Clark

Another shutout, this time against the Clark Cougars, gave the girls soccer team their fifth win this season. The 3-0 victory Jan. 28 marks their fourth shutout in the first seven games.

For nearly half of the first half, the score was deadlocked at 0-0, but then junior midfielder Ana Campa broke the silence with a goal 19 minutes into the half. From then on, the team would control the game. Junior forward Kyra Falcone capped the first half with another goal and would later assist on the third score by sophomore forward Ashton Woods in the second half.

The team has been dominant this season with Falcone currently leading the district in both goals (11) and assists (8). Also, junior goalie Mary Cardone leads the district in goal’s allowed percentage at 0.71.

The girls also hold the highest number of assists in the district and are one goal behind Reagan for the top scoring spot.

District play opens against Madison at 5 p.m. Feb. 3 at BAC-East.
