Brahmas pitch their way past Churchill

Four days after their scheduled meeting, the baseball team faced Churchill in a meeting of two of the top schools in the district. The Brahmas won a pitching centered game 3-1 on March 23.

The team hit the ball fairly well, however their defense was the key to getting the win. Junior Josh Jung pitched another incredible district game with 12 strikeouts. This puts him at just one earned run allowed in 12 innings pitched, two district games.

“[I’m just] hitting spots and throwing good pitches,” Jung said.

The players in the field also had his back and made a play almost every time a Charger would make contact. Minimal errors were essential in the win, and the play of the game was made by junior Bobby Lepovitz. He chased down a foul ball, from second base, and made an impressive sliding grab to get the out.

The boys can put runs on the board with their talented lineup, however, they can also win the occasional pitching battle. The team plays Lee on Friday in their third district game.

“We just have to keep hitting the ball,” Jung said. “We did a good job today and have to continue that Friday.”
