Let’s Get Leggy With It!

With the hot Texas weather rolling in many teenagers are getting ready for so called “hot girl summer”. Of courdse before you hit the beaches you want to remember to take care of your health, specificall your joint health. So here are some simple leg exercises to strengthen your knees.

  1. Straight Leg Raises.

Lay down on your back or sit back while leaning on your elbows and bend your opposite knee while keeping your other knee straight. Raise your straight leg and hold for five to ten seconds, then lower your leg. Repeat as many times as you like to work your quadriceps.

  1. Wall Sits

Sit against a wall with your legs about shoulder width apart and slowly bend them, without exceeding a 90 degree angle. Hold for five to ten seconds and rest, repeat as many times as you like without discomfort or pressure.

  1. Calf Raises

Stand facing the back of a sturdy chair or wall/banister, raise up onto the balls of your feet and lower yourself. Repeat 3 sets of 15.

  1. Clamshells

Lay on one side and bend your knees slightly. Raise your opposite knee and lower it. Repeat in 3 sets of 15.
