King Vamp Tour: Playboi Carti Concert Review

The Houston concert was canceled the day before people were worried this one would be canceled too. The Austin concert has been moved back as well because of what happened in Houston. Fans were getting impatient and started breaking metal detectors and jumping on cars. A security guard was injured as well. Last Sunday, rapper Playboi Carti performed at the Freeman Coliseum. The concert was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and about thirty minutes later Ken Carson opened.

He performed “Yale,” “Run + Ran,” “Rock N Roll,” and more. He was joined by Destroy Lonely on his last song. After the lights went out people with assigned seats started jumping down to the floor. Security never caught anyone and this went on every time they turned them off.

After another thirty minutes, Rico Nasty opened as well. She performed her songs, “iPhone,” “Guap (LaLaLa),” “Tia Tamera,” and more. At 10 p.m. Carti came out, starting the concert with his song “Stop Breathing”.

After being there for two hours everyone had grown tired of waiting, but the anticipation building up to the song definitely made me wake up. The fog machines were emitting so much fog I never actually saw him, just his silhouette. With the fog and the flashing lasers and lights, it was a perfectly set scene. He performed several songs off of his last album Whole Lotta Red along with some songs on other albums or songs he featured in such as, “Off the Grid,” “wokeuplikethis*,” and “Miss the rage.” He ended the concert right before 12 a.m. with “F33l Lik3 Dyin.”

It was a great concert and after hearing these songs live, the recorded versions just aren’t the same.
