Brockhampton Break-Up

After being one of the most popular indie groups since 2010, the alternative boy band “Brockhampton”, has officially announced they will be breaking up this year. The band is composed of many different musical artists, such as Kevin Abstract, Matt Champion, Ameer Vann, and fourteen other members who have had alternative hip-hop listeners hooked since they’re first album release in 2016, which is why the news of their “indefinite hiatus” is so heartbreaking to fans right now.

The band is led by main vocalist Kevin Abstract, who has released five albums of his own while being in the band. They’re considered the first and only boy band in Rap, and have released seven albums since 2016, but have been creating music for much longer. In 2010, the band began uploading music to the platform “KanyeToThe”, a forum community dedicated to Kanye West fans and enthusiasts. They’re fame picked up on this platform shortly before the release of their very first album, “ALL-AMERICAN TRASH” which is what boosted their careers incredibly.

This year, the group was scheduled to perform at this year’s Coachella Festival, and at the O2 Academy Brixton in London. But on Jan. 14, they announced on their social media that after these shows they will be going on an indefinite hiatus. They made a post on their Instagram that day that made the breakup official, as well as announcing all other tour dates have been canceled, but assuring fans that all tickets and VIP packages will be refunded;

“BROCKHAMPTON’s upcoming shows at the O2 Academy Brixton in London and at Coachella will be our final performance as a group. All other tour dates are canceled, effective immediately. Refunds for all tickets and VIP packages will be available at the point of purchase”

The cause of the band’s breakup is still unknown as they never officially said why, but there is still some hope as they said it will be their last performances as a group, suggesting that they might pull a “One Direction” and advance each of their careers on their own.
