On Aug. 11 the freshman Lady Mavs  and the freshman T-birds from Wagner went head to head, and both the A-team and B-team came away with wins.

The B-teams competed first. The Lady Mavs held the lead all the way to the end of the game, ending at 25-9. Period two also ended with a 25-12 victory. After the game coach Casey Spence gathered the girls in a circle and told them how proud she was.

“You kept the ball in the air,” Spence said.

Even the players thought they did well.

“It went really well,” Celine Molina said. “We didn’t fight at all.”

After a short warm-up for both the Madison and Wagner A-teams, the game was on. During the game the two schools traded the lead until the Lady Mavs pushed ahead winning 25-15. The next period started and the ladies lead the whole way, finally winning 25-16. After a full day of wins Madison’s freshman team walked away with smiling faces.

“They did well; I think it was because of the practice we had before the game,” Spence said.
