Mavs Dominate Against Lee

By Richard Hernandez

Having only two games remaining in the football season and coming off a loss to Reagan, the Mavs were facing Lee, and were ready to make up from last week’s loss.

“Around this time of the year the most important thing we can do is continue to improve,” coach Jim Streety said before the game on Saturday. “What we are going to do is stay focused into this game and into playoffs.”

The Mavs established a lead early in the game and never looked back. Going into half time, the Mavs lead 35-14, but Lee kept the game interesting. Lee scored during the first possession of the second half to make the score 35-21, but the Mavs continued to dominate. The Mavs ended the game with a 45-28 victory making it their fourth district win.

“We played pretty good,” senior receiver Shawn Muller said. “[The game] got us our spot in playoffs so it was a pretty big game for us.”

The playoffs are right around the corner, but the Mavs still have one district game left in the season before they can march into playoffs. The last game before playoffs is one of the biggest rivalries in the district, as the Mavs take on Macarthur in the M&M bowl Fri. at 7:30 at Heroes stadium.

“[The M&M bowl] is always a big game and I’m looking forward to the game,” Muller added.
